Over 100 of Salman's fans stood before the central jail to catch a glimpse of the actor who spent a night behind bars after a local court passed the sentence on Monday.
"I have been standing here since 7 a.m. I still feel he has been wrongly implicated in the case," a Salman fan was seen saying on a TV channel.
Another girl, 11, said she would fast until Salman is released from the jail.
Salman's brother Sohail and sister Alvira, along with their lawyer Deepesh Mehta, met the actor in jail Tuesday afternoon. They spent over 50 minutes with Salman.
Salman will have to spend at least one more night in prison before his lawyers can apply for bail as the courts were closed for two days on account of holidays.
"Salman is being treated like an ordinary prisoner and has been lodged in a simple cell like any other inmate. He is being provided with same facilities as any normal convict," a jail official said.
"For dinner Salman was given roti, aloo tamatar ki subzi (potato-tomato vegetable) to eat, while in breakfast he was served gur-channa (jaggery-gram). In today's (Tuesday) lunch he was served dal (pulses), roti and rice," he said.
For water he has been provided an earthen pot. He has also been allowed to get newspapers from outside, he added.
His personal security guard Shera and a local friend Shishupal Singh Rajpurohit were with him when he arrived at the jail on Monday afternoon.
Rajpurohit later took clothes, toothbrush, a shaving kit and Odomos (mosquito repellent) to the jail for Salman.
